What is a Bitcoin Faucet?

What is a Bitcoin Faucet?
A Bitcoin Faucet is a website that distributes small amounts of Bitcoin to users. Most faucets require you to perform a small task, like solving a captcha, to prove that you’re human and then pay out a certain amount of Satoshi on a timed basis. (For example you may find a faucet that will give you 100 Satoshi every 10 minutes.)

Every Bitcoin Faucet is different. Some will offer a large amount of Satoshi once a day, while others offer smaller amounts several times a day. Many faucets will offer a referral program that offers you a certain percentage of the earnings of people you refer, although there are a few that do not.

So, you may be wondering how it is that a website can just give away Bitcoin. Well, the answer lies in the advertising. You see, the banner ads and pop-ups you encounter at these sites are paying the owner for showing the advertisements to you and in turn the owner shares that income with the users. It’s pretty much a win/win situation!

Some faucets are pretty straight forward while some others are quite extravagant and may include a flash based game, lottery, or some other means of making the experience more addicting and enjoyable. With thousands of Bitcoin Faucets out there, let me tell you, there is never a minute in the day that you can’t claim some free Satoshi.
